Back in February 2025, our trusty Piper PA-28-201RT Turbo Arrow IV, N2922Y, made a quick pit stop at KBDH (Willmar Municipal Airport) for a fill-up and a short break. It was a beautiful day for flying, and the Willmar FBO (Fixed Base Operator) was a great place to stretch our legs before the next leg of our journey.
This flight was a preliminary journey to the final destination, where the aircraft would undergo a major overhaul. This is not just a routine annual inspection; we’re talking about a comprehensive engine rebuild to ensure she’s performing at her absolute best and ready for many more hours of safe flight.
As a Piper Turbo Arrow IV, N2922Y is a fantastic cross-country aircraft, and its turbocharger is a game-changer when flying in mountainous regions. The journey through the peaks is more than just a change in scenery; it’s a different kind of flight. The turbocharger becomes your best friend, as it compensates for the decreasing air density, allowing the engine to produce power at altitudes where a normally aspirated engine would struggle.
Since that February flight, N2922Y has been undergoing a complete engine overhaul at KHRF (Huron Regional Airport). This significant investment is all about preparing for the next generation of pilots. We’re thrilled to announce that she’ll be returning to service this fall 2025, perfectly timed for our new student pilots at STP Flight to begin their training. A fresh engine means even more reliability and performance, providing our students with an optimal learning environment.
We can’t wait for our new students to get their hands on N2922Y this fall and begin their journey to earning their wings. Get ready to experience the power of a freshly overhauled engine and the joy of mountain flying!
